Every year I ask the same question: What can I do for Mother's Day? My Grandma always used to say that we should honor our mother all year-long which would make Mother's Day obsolete. What a statement. Mothers Day shouldn't be an excuse for missed opportunities but if you are like me then you like to show your love and appreciation in some kind of way. The perfect Mother's Day gift for your Mom depends on her character, but here are my favorite eco-friendly gift ideas.

Sometimes the best gift that you can give somebody is by giving them what they most need which is often more sleep. If your Mom is constantly busy, working hard and caring for everybody 24/7, then just giving her some quality time of sleep can be the best start in her day.

Spending time with people we love is for most of us, including myself, one of the most precious gifts. Depending on how far you live away, a phone call is always the most personal. I am always a strong believer in spending time together by meeting in a restaurant, going on a hiking trip, spending time in a museum, going for a walk or something that you can both enjoy. Distance and the coronavirus might make this not possible this year but then a video call can be just as wonderful.

Since I was little, I made my Mom a handmade gift for Mother's Day that she always loved and appreciated most because of the thought that went into it. When I was young, I drew pictures, made origami and later I sewed little purses.

My Mom always loves my poems which often highlights family members or talks in a humorous way about a current situation. Feel free to copy my Mother´s Day poem below.
Happy Mothers Day I am wishing you.
That you enjoy every moment and good health too.
I appreciate what you do for me,
with you, there is no other place I want to be.
I might be sometimes far from you, mother
but we know we are always there for each other.
Whenever you need me,
I will come over for a cup of tea.
Or call me anytime,
and everything will be fine.
You make this world so much better,
that's why I needed to write this letter.
It comes deeply from my heart,
Because in my life you play an important part.

Health is right now more important than ever. Tony Robbins always says: “Health is energy” and couldn't we all need more of that. Cooking together and surprising your Mom with a healthy and delicious meal can be the cherry on top of a wonderful Mother's Day.
